BBC presenter Yinka Bokinni will front the documentary about the embattled hip hop mogul ahead of his sex trafficking trial.
The BBC has joined a crowded field with its own documentary about the hip hop career ascent and crash of Sean “Diddy” Combs ahead of his sex trafficking trial.
BBC presenter Yinka Bokinni will front P Diddy: The Rise and Fall for BBC3, which, according to a synopsis, “explores the world that propelled Diddy to stardom — and the system that may have protected him for years.” Combs faces an upcoming trial for racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution and has denied the criminal allegations against him. He remains in jail in New York City awaiting his trial set for May.

Federal prosecutors charged Combs with sex trafficking and racketeering for directing a vast criminal enterprise through which he assaulted and trafficked women with the help of his various businesses from at least 2008.
The BBC on Wednesday said Bokinni will look at how Combs went from being a rap world kingpin to public disgrace and facing a criminal trial. The BBC doc like earlier projects will interview people claiming to be in Combs’ inner circle, and his critics.
“My job is to tell stories — but never did I imagine I’d be telling this one. Investigating the alleged actions of Diddy has forced a spotlight onto the darker side of an industry so many of us dream of belonging to. We sang his songs, bought into the lifestyle, watched the shows and wanted more. This has been an emotional, sometimes difficult experience. And with a trial on the horizon, what happens next will no doubt be gripping — in the most sobering way,” Bokinni said in a statement.
P Diddy: The Rise and Fall will be produced by Proper Content for BBC Three and iPlayer. David DeHaney and Rachel Harvie will executive produce the one hour doc, with Eddie Hutton-Mills directing and producing along with Amelia Ellis, and Bokinni serving as an associate producer.
