Synopsis
Ye Jiayao is a modern-day celebrity chef who loves traditional Chinese recipes and often experiments with them. However, when a food experiment goes wrong, she travels back in time to the ancient times, where she becomes the daughter of a magistrate with the name Ye Jin Xuan. When she wakes up she is suddenly kidnapped to Hei Fang Camp where she meets the leader of the bandits, Xia Chun Yu, the young master of the Jing An Marquis manor, who is actually an undercover agent for the king. He had infiltrated the Black Wind Fortress bandits to investigate a plot to overthrow the king. The two then get engaged in a fake marriage. Ye Jia Yao starts to win over hearts, including Xia Chun Yu's, with her superb cooking skills and modern street smarts.

STORY: 7/10
Season 2 of Meng Qi Shi Shen delivers more fun food adventures with the introduction of new characters and even more mouth-watering food scenes. The story continues by focusing on the female lead's food adventures and her career as a rising chef in this world, which I really enjoyed.
Besides the food challenges the female lead faces each episode, there are other subplots that help drive the story. The romance does get more development this season. There's nothing new brought to this genre and there are definitely plot points that get glossed over, but characters are fun and the story execution is still much more ...

Mixed Feelings
I honestly didn't know how to rate this one, but I definitely found myself enjoying season 1 A LOT more. I was wayyyy more bored with this sequel. I watched it because other reviews said the romance between the MCs progresses more, because there wasn't much in the first, and I wanted to know what was going to happen with them.
That being said, there was definitely way more scenes between the two in the first season, so if you're going into it hoping for more you don't really get all that much.
